How best can the Dems prevent the GOP & Bush from ramming through last minute legislation? |
|
I'm not sure how easily the Democrats in the Senate can filibuster, especially because soon-to-be-former allies like Chafee might not be in the mood to stand with them.

2. How you act in the upcoming weeks WILL determine how we act in the upcoming years |
|
This is when back-room negotiations will take place. D's in leadership positions (or those who are locked into leadership positions after the transition) will be telling the R's in outgoing leadership positions, "O-kay, fella's-- here's the game. Play ball with us in the upcoming weeks, or there will be hell to pay on sub-committee appointments, ear-marks and pet bills. Play nicely and you'll get treated fairly. Play like you have been and you'll get locked out. Period. No wiggle room, gentlemen. How you act in the upcoming weeks WILL determine how we act in the upcoming years."
That's what this arm-chair politician would do...
