Who are the reasonable/rational Repubs left for the Democrats to work with? |
|
Of course, I'm thrilled that Whitehouse is in the Senate, but I have to admit -- I hate to see a decent Republican like Chafee not around for the Democrats to work with. Jim Leach of Iowa is also gone, and he was a reasonable Repub in the House. So who's left? I guess Hagel and Lugar in the Senate are more-or-less rational Republicans. Congressman Chris Smith of NJ isn't bad (but Congressman Scott Garrett from my district of NJ is.)

"There's nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos." Not exactly my favorite guy all the time, but at least nominally on our side of the fence.

4. As much as I hate to praise her, my senator, Olympia Snowe, is *fairly* rational. |
|
She gets caught up in party schtick from time to time, but I don't think the Maine populace will allow her to play any tricks. Also, I think that as Republican crooks start falling, Snowe will be more eager to work with the Dems.

5. Lindsay Graham isn't too bad |
|
South Carolina remains red, red, red.
We've re-elected the country's third worst governor.
But Lindsay Graham is fairly centered. He doesn't scare me like my other SC senator - Jim DeMint.
