Follow up: Me telling my Dad to STFU!

Now....the follow up:


I'm glad I waited him out. At 10am this morning, my cell phone rang. It was Dad.

The first words out of my mouth were, "I'm sorry".

The first words out of his mouth were, "I accept".

Which kind of pissed me off for a brief second....so I continued.

"I'm sorry but with an explanation".

And guess what. He actually "shut the fuck up" and listened.



"Dad, when you disregard my views and respond to me with a condescending 'Ooooohhhhh Tim'....it really pisses me off. Don't devalue my opinions. Though I've never said it in the past, 'shut the fuck up', is what I feel every time you do that to me.

"Bottom line, I'm sorry for expressing the way I felt in that way. I am not sorry that I expressed that I've had enough of the condescension."



He then apologized and told me he knows I'm not a child anymore, that he immensely enjoys our political conversations because, he said, "You're a thinker.". He said he would try not to do that anymore.


Than he congratulated me. Then he told me:

"TELL ALL YOUR LIBERAL FRIENDS ON YOUR MESSAGE BOARDS...CONGRATULATIONS!"


So...we're cool.



P.S.

I called him as soon as I heard the Rumsfeld resignation while writing this. I sent him a link to the Military Times article last Friday and ended the email with:

"I see your guy with a foot and his mouth (Kerry)....and I raise you one dude about to become the cherry on top of the worlds biggest shit sundae."

He said..."you were right".
