7. Impeachment is not necessary...
when the investigations are done, we're gonna have a whole new ballgame. The rats are already deserting the sinking ship.

At times I have felt like others do that if it were ever to become possible, Bush HAD to be impeached, because his crimes are just off-the-historical-scale (for our history, at least). They had to dragged into the light and written down in full detail for history books so that they would not be repeated, or continued.
Unfortunately I think this country is so far down the rabbit hole now that impeachment proceedings would not help. In fact they would probably backfire on Democrats as the corporate media would poison the perception of impeachment with their cynicism, and work to convince people that it was "only payback for Clinton". One of the bitterest outcomes of 8 years of Clinton assassination attempts is that vitally important mechanisms for reining in a criminal executive have been burnt out. Special Prosecutors no longer have a law to empower them, and after the wild ride of Ken Starr it's no wonder the Special Counsel law was euthanized. Impeachment was turned into a grotesque circus without respect or credibility by the Gingrich Republican House. Our national political life went from not very exalted moral status to somewhere underneath the gutter.
Thanks to Republicans, impeachment has come to mean assassination carried out by other means.
But we can investigate everything Bush has done without raising the expectation that impeachment is the ultimate goal. We can uncover a wealth of evidence that will be of interest to International Warcrimes Tribunals--and the threat of extradition will haunt Bushler and his goosestepping supporters for years to come.

14. If you actually believe the BFEE stuff, he's not worried about gettiing impeached.
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 02:24 PM by Tesha
If you actually believe the BFEE stuff (regarding how the
Bush Crime Family deals with their enemies, real and imagined),
he's not worried about gettiing *IMPEACHED*, he's worried about
being placed on the "permanently inactive" list, if you know
what I mean. After all, don't you suppose there are lots of
"terrorists" out there who have their eye on the President?

At this point, the BFEE'd probably be happy to let Cheney take
full control, and doing via a "terrorist" incident would be
the obvious route: fast, easy, and politically rewarding.
