whoever we nominate in '08 has to appeal to Independents |
|
This election convinced me of that. We got our base out and yet the GOP base also seemed to turn out. We won this election because 60% of Independents voted Democratic. We can't simply win with somebody who will "appeal to the base" (though we can't discard the base either). We need somebody who will be able to compete head on head with McCain (who I think will be the GOP nominee) who has a huge base of support among Independent voters.
Right now I'm thinking the best candidates to do this are Obama, Edwards and Clark.

I think the three you mention have enormous appeal across the board.

He's young, I'd prefer to let him get a couple more years experience, but now is the time to capitalize.

4. Appealing to indepedants does NOT NOT NOT mean selling out your values |
|
The American people are leaning center-left or left on all the major issues.
All we need is a solid charismatic leader. That is right we need a real appealing leader.
And we will win.
