5. He looks absolutely crushed!
He looked the same way early this morning. Why does Matthews bother to even pretend to be impartial? He is deeply in love with the (former) Rethug lock on Washington power.

7. Matthews has given money to Democrats and wrote speeches for
Carter. But, I admit - he seems "down."

9. He reduced himself to cheap physical digs at the Gov of NM last night
If you didn't see him he was beside himself with the loss by the republicans. He was snotty and rude and completely unprofessional.

10. Sometimes really nice people are just wrong about things
I get the feeling that Matthews separates, maybe too often, where people stand on the issues and whether they are nice people or not. The fact that a lot of people he had friendships with were going down possibly touched him more than the fact that they deserved to go down. I know some really nice people that have their heads up their rears when it comes to politics, and likewise I know some lefties that I wouldn't care to pal around with. Being a Washington media guy as long as he has he's got to have seen lots of people (right & wrong) come and go. Give him a little space to be sentimental. It's not often we see that side of him.
