5. I think that someone should whisper in his ear |
that it's because of the Dems that he's there ... once he crosses them, he's out, Lieberman's replacing him ...
And the Dems confirm him ... but just barely ... watch the Repukes scramble trying to explain why they were voting against approving him without admitting that they want him to lose so that they can get Joe in and save their skins by making the Senate in Cheney's hands ...

8. Could Gates get confirmed by the current Senate, or |
does the next session of congress start in January?
Whichever senate panel deals with him.....he'll have some hard questions to answer....

9. He was found not worthy of indictment |
From outward appearances, he looks qualified. Just cause Bush likes him doesn't mean he's evil. He should be vetted and if he's kosher, approved. And fairly quickly. I just wonder how up on stuff he is, after being a college prez for the last few years. But I don't have immediate negative feelings.

11. Shit, if he can heal the middle east |
with some creative covert shit, I wouldn't even mind at this point. Foreign policy is not under our control, the best we can hope for is someone that knows their shit and has a realistic approach to solving the problem.
