Anyone here live in a VERY RED area too?
OMG, they are livid here about McCaskill winning last night. There are a lot of people with grumpy looking faces walking around with their heads hung low. I'm lovin' it!!! I saw one guy out in his yard taking down his Talent sign, and he looked mortified.

How are the reactions of freepers in your area?

1. same here
I'm also living in Missouri, and I live in a very red county in SW Missouri, and my neighbor up the road, a very prominent repub was clearly upset over Talents loss...and, the stem cell amendment...more upset about the stem cell amendment though.

12. Yeah, FHS Arkansas
I always liked driving by the big Mustang Statue by highway 71 but that has now been bypassed right? Back in the early 70's it was a long trip from Fayetteville to Joplin now the highway is just about all four laned.

14. it hasn't been
fixed yet, not all the way, highway 71 that is. There is a four way lane til about ...hmm, a mile or two south of Anderson, MO...where it goes to a 2 way highway...MO is currently working on road improvements to add another two lanes, plus a toll highway in, that leads from joplin, directly though fayetteville, and further south.

My wife drives 71 everday, and its really bad...lots of accidents, lots of semi's trying to pass cars on the shoulder..its a mess. 71 was suppose to be done in 04, but now its slated to be completed by 09...they are dragging their heels, but MO just got sued by families who lost loved ones on that 15 mile stretch of road between anderson/ar border, because Modot has been dragging their heels...and the families won their suit, so now the Modot is trying to get done with the roads lickety split.

Mac county is still worthless in football...the school district spends so much money on the worthless team, its ridiculous, but I guess there always has to be sucky teams....:)

3. Tulsa, OK - very red.
Things seem to be pretty calm here. People are in a good mood.

We re-elected a Democratic Governor yesterday, and have a Democratic Lieutenant Governor as well who will serve as tie breaker on votes. All in all, Oklahoma is a bit more blue than it has been.

We're still ill with that parasite, John Sullivan, who also got re-elected last night. And we still have Jim Inhofe, a boil on the ass of humanity. But in due time, perhaps people will wise up enough to dump their stinkin' asses out on the curb.

13. If the Dems run good candidates, they can win.
Inhofe will be running in two years and I'm positive he can be beat if someone viable runs against him. Unfortunately we seem to nominate hacks or good-ol'-boys.

18. We have to find someone better to run.
Any ideas? We need to start on this right now. I want Inhofe to follow in the footsteps on Santorum. In fact, I dare say Inhofe is even WORSE than Santorum!

Dems in Oklahoma need to get organized and make Inhofe find something else to do with his time!

25. ever since I moved back to Tulsa in 89 I've been just
stunned by the 'laid back' democratic party here in OK. I remember my first OK election: I went to Tulsa dem party headquarters and had to more or less beg someone there to tell me my OK house and senate district.

Of course I realize that after losing for a long time it's hard to be 'up' all the time. AND I came here from IA....there for about 6 weeks before an election just stopping at the door of the democratic party headquarters meant x number of people were pulling you in, loading you up with literature, and signing you up to work. Move from IA to OK was a major political cultural shock.

29. Andy, sorry to hijack this thread, but if you are in Tulsa.....
a movie that I co-produced, Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore?, is playing at the Circle Cinema this weekend.

I keep trying to get DUers to go see it with not much luck so far. Last week we were nominated for the International Documentary Association's Doc of the Year Award (one of five from all docs worldwide this year). If you go see it, I guaranty that you will be entertained.

6. Very red, and the rethugs are joyful since they elected that despicable Roskam
a rethug just like them.

Dmmit, why does the rest of the country get to (mostly) throw off their rethugs and we get saddled with one equally as bad as Henry Hyde?

Sucks.

As proof: 60% voted for Katherine Harris and only 38% for Nelson. Think about that...60% voted for that crazy woman. These are my neighbors! I have to contain myself a bit today as I could be lynched if I appear too happy. :)

today was great, this puke dominated campus looked rather glum this morning as I walked to class. I wanted to walk around with my hands in the air shouting "USA" "USA" but it is Alabama. And our school colors after all are Crimson and White.

27. I'm in a blue area in the reddest of states, Georgia
We elected Democrat Hank Johnson to replace Cynthia McKinney in my district. But Georgia is SO RED. We have an embarrasing governor, Sonny Perdue, and an even more embarrassing senator, Saxby Chambliss.
Bush loves to come to Georgia. We have lots of good ole boys here...you know, the guys who says "I voted for Bush cause he's the kinda guy you want to have a beer with!".
I think Bush is drinking alone these days.
