I called the G. Gordon Liddy show this morning |
|
They were quite pleasant. The screener asked who I was and what I wanted to talk about. I replied that Gordon was getting it all wrong and I wanted to offer a progressive Democratic response to his charges that the vote was all about Iraq.
As close as I can remember:
Liddy: Gordon, you're up in South Florida
Me: Hi, Mr. Liddy
Liddy: You've got a great name there
Me: It's probably the only thing you and I have in common (laughter)
Liddy: What did you want to talk about?
Me: I thought you'd like to have a conversation with a progressive Democrat about the election.
Liddy: Go ahead, sure.
Me: It wasn't all about the war. We the people decided that the balance of power had to be returned for the betterment of the country. We all KNOW that the Iraq war was unnecessary, the mission could have been accomplished with political and diplomatic pressure and a couple groups of highly trained US Special Forces, just like it used to be done.
Liddy: Yes. We used to do that yes.
Me: YOU used to do it, Mr. Liddy. You know people that have done it. We did not need to send thousands of Americans and trillions of American dollars half way around the world to accomplish a goal that could be handled by one bullet.
Liddy: You're referring to the war of liberation against Saddam?
Me: Yes. You of all people on the right, Mr. Liddy, should know what I am talking about. There are NOT terrorists behind every tree in the US, no matter what the administration would like you to believe, so stop pretending that there are. Our goal in Iraq now should be to define, and quickly, what victory means. The president has left us in a position that victory can only be defined as the Iraqi's asking us to leave.
Liddy: Well, that's what he has said all along.. (chatter) (click)
It was empowering and liberating to speak out to the "patriots" on the other side, even if only on the radio. Maybe I changed a few minds, or just gave them something to think about. BTW Flame on if you don't agree with my assessment of taking out perceived enemies, but that's what Special forces are for.

2. If you like doing that, you should go to Callingallwingnuts.com. |

It is all about calling into the RW shows and how to be effective, how to get through, etc. Perhaps you already know about it. It is Mike Stark's website. He has been doing that for a long time. http://www.callingallwingnuts.com/

6. Thanks. Could be a great new meme for defining victory in Iraq. |
|
One that the right agrees with. The President has left us with no other benchmark than the Iraqi's finally telling us to GO HOME. So victory is now determined and defined by "the enemy".
