Leahy Wants To Tackle Torture First.
Heard Leahy a little while ago on NPR. He's still pissed and disgusted about the Torture Bill. He said that if the dems take the Senate and he's judiciary chair, this issue will be at the top of his agenda. Maybe there's some hope that we can stop the torturers after all.

Anyone else here this?

1. I listened as well ....
"Torture" and the repeal of habeas corpus seem too much for him (me too)!

4. No, but I hope and pray that it is the straight scoop.
America should NOT EVER support torture, i.e., physical coercion (waterboarding) is torture.

BTW all Democratic Representatives best take extra precautions with their mail, stay away from small planes AND have signal's intelligence experts check their homes, phones and offices for BUGS each and ever day.

6. It's definitely the straight scoop
Leahy was apoplectic about the Torture bill, and blasted bushco for it. They're gonna pay for the contemptuous way they treated him when he's judiciary chair once again.

7. And those finger in the wind Dem hacks that voted for it will follow him now
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 03:43 PM by Strawman
Cuz the wind, my freinds, has changed. Go Leahy!

That's why I voted for my Dem hack Senator who wimped out and voted for that awful bill out of total political cowardice. I know she'll flip if it's in the interest of her ambition. Had she lost, we might face a different set of circumstances where such a proposition would be less possible.

12. That's all I have to hear to know
he is the one to chair this. Any democrat that wants to complain or take the administration's position does not understand this landslide or is listening to the DLC "bosses" and may face voter wrath in 08.

18. I'm with Leahy on this
This should be a very high priority, reversing the entirety of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and making it clear we are a nation who no longer tortures, period.

There's a lot of work to do but this should be a top priority. I still think we'll experience a severe economic depression, but mayber there's hope for us yet.
