Maybe I'm cynical or paranoid, but is the Rumsfeld resignation a way to deflect |
|
attention from the Senate races and Democratic victory in Congress? I'm flipping between CNN and MSNBC and it's all Rummy all the time, and nary a whimper about Tester in MT and Webb in VA. Now Bush is speaking YET AGAIN. The media is assembled at the White House, rather than covering the Democratic victory.

1. You are neither cynical nor paranoid |
|
The timing is too convenient and the media, as always, is licking the boots of the Administration.

You are right. This is a way to take the eyes off of the MT & VA Senate |
|
races. The poll data shows that there should have been 4% leads for the Dems in both states, but now they are 1% or less now.
Some serious election fraud is going on right now.

This new man in charge or the world's largest military i've don't know of at all?
I would like to learn enough to know whether or not he's a psychopath.

A command change when force is in the field is foreground, and MT and VA are parallel concerns watched with detailed scrutiny.
The foreground command change could put the world in nuclear war within a year, we need to know no matter who is in the senate. Gates profile will not change the result of this election, this is a real tide, trust it.

9. Naw, I don't think so. I think Shrub knew he had to get rid of Rummy, |
|
even before the election, and he arranged to do it right after the election to help save his own ass! As for the media, Rummy really IS the most recent big story of thehour. It will run for the rest of the day maybe, and then something else will surface to the top!

11. I think * is dumb enough to think that this will get the Dems |
|
off his back so he can go back to doing whatever it is he wants to do in Iraq or anywhere else. He is of course assuming that the Amurkin people are as stupid as he is, something that's always worked for him before. The Dems need a response like "getting rid of Rumsfeld is an OK first step but you still have to get rid of the Rumsfeld/Cheney policies that caused all the problems in the first place."

the violations of the constitution and War Crimes Act, the soon to be filing in a German court by CCR of war crimes charges against Rumsfeld and other administration officials, the request by generals that Rumsfeld step down, or maybe, but not probable, he just wanted Gates instead.

18. Let's make it a "Honecker moment." ie "Ideological Disarticulation" |
|
I'm into somewhat obtuse historical analogies. But this is appropriate. Once East Germany's leader caved on certain political/administrative questions, the whole ideological edifice maintaining the state began to collapse. We can help ensure the same thing happens to the Republicans, using the Rumsfeld scapegoating as the "spark." Once the ideological cohesion is severed, the whole rationale for all the GOP workers and volunteers vanishes. Let's keep the spotlight on the right.

Poppy put Jim Baker in a commission to fix Shrub's Iraq mess and Poppy hired the new SecDef, and Cheney is Now Out Of The Loop!!
Watch it unfold.

23. Poppy doesn't want the family legacy to be besmirched |
|
any more than it already has been, at least among country club republicans.
He wrote in his own book why he didn't push Gulf War One to Baghdad, in a paragraph that describes exactly the endless mess we are in.
The republican party is in disarray, there is a distinct possibility of impeachment and related investigations and Barbara probably told Poppy to go get Jim Baker and his old team to put humpty dumpty back together again...as best they can.
This is the ULTIMATE smackdown for Shrub, who continues to think he hit a home run in life, when in fact he was born on third and stole home.

24. The usual script, in other words |
|
The Smirk gets a job because of who his daddy is, he screws it up, and daddy calls his friends in and they come to find a way to pull The Smirk out of his mess.
Could this have been predicted 6 years ago?
How could it *not* have been predicted? He's never done anything BUT this all his life.

22. I don't care what it was |
|
I went to bed this morning, telling Blogslut Jr. :
"I know I claim to be peaceful but I do want blood out of this win. I want the head of Donald Rumsfeld."
I advise everyone to read "State of Denial" by Bob Woodward. Read it and you will see exactly how much damage Rumsfeld did, not just with this war but to the military as a whole.
Don't get me wrong. Bush has been letting that bastard run roughshod for all this time. I want all of them held accountable for what they've done to America and everything else. I also realize that Bob Gates is yet another Iran/Contra ghost come to life. Still, Rumsfeld is out. Gone. Finito.
Today is a good day. :)
