This election was a victory for populism. |
|
Since the days of the FDR New Deal coalition populism, more than anything else, has united our disparate groups and given them a common cause. It has made our big tent party strong.
What else can bring people with such wildly different social views as Jon Tester and Ted Kennedy to the same table? Only populism.
We don't need a party in this country to speak for the rich. There already is one; it's called the Republican Party.
When we speak for those who have too little, paying more in taxes so those who have so much can pay less, we win.
When we speak for increasing the minimum wage, we win.
When we speak for guaranteeing a high level of education for all Americans, we win.
When we speak for parents, working two full-time jobs just to pay their bills and feed their children, we win.
When we speak for seniors, splitting their pills in half because they can't afford to take the full dose, we win.
When we speak for the majority of Americans, we win.

2. Brown is proof that this works. |
|
No one will convince me that he won simply because of corruption in Ohio. DeWine was rather clean in that regard.
