Withhold Money!
If you are like me (and occasionally contribute to party activities) you get solicitations from the DSCC. You may want to tell them if Alito is not filibustered you won't give the group any money. Money will only go to individual candidates who have the courage to support the filibuster. This might be a good message for the Landrieus and Byrds of the world when you call their offices...

1. I am thinking about this. What do you think?
My senator Maria Cantwell is up for reelection this year. She will have a very tough fight.

Should I actually tell her that I will withhold my money, time and even my vote if she doesn't go with the filibuster?

That is what I feel now. I have written to her three times, including tonight, saying that her own re-election is not as important as this issue. None of us individually is as important as the overarching issue of defeating the Alito nomination.

But should I threaten to abandon her if she disagrees? The Republican running against here is a real dyed-in-the-wool Bushie.

4. You can threaten...
... because that doesn't mean you won't "change your mind" at the last minute and vote for her in November to keep the Bushie out of the Senate. It might not hurt to scare her, though. They need to understand how important this issue is to the people who elected them.

5. Don't threaten not to vote, just to withhold money and support
your vote is assumed to be a given as a dem. But money is less guaranteed.

3. It's money that matters!
I totally agree with you on that point. Money talks when it comes to Senator's.

6. To clarify--
Mention you will specifically NOT give money to the DSCC to ensure that Alito supporters don't get ANY financial support.
