1. There Will Be No Tie
If Dems have 50 and Reps have 50 the Reps will be in control because the VP as Pres. of Senate has the tie breaking vote.

15. I Think It's The Caucus
or whatever. Sanders and Lieberman, though Independents, have indicated they will vote with the Democrats most of the time, which means they are counted in the D column.

2. yes, the senate is never truly tied
The Vice President is given the power to cast deciding votes in the case of ties.

5. I think there would be 2 majority leaders, but Dick Cheney would still be the decider

10. Bernie and Liberman will caucus with the Democrats to pick a leader
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 04:05 PM by ThomWV
Both have already said they would caucus with the Democrats so they will each have a vote for who the leader will be and they will cast that vote for a democrat.

Honestly, I wish Bernie led the Senate rather than either a Democrat or a Republican.

6. Both Tester and Webb have declared victory.

It's only a matter of time that Waaaa-Allen and Burns realize the hopelessness of their positions and concede. Word has it (TPM--Josh Marshall) that Waaaa-Allen is considering concession.

So, we will have the majority in both houses.

14. Moot even if it ends up 50-50
Cheney gets the tie-breaking vote and will vote with the Republicans on the continuing resolution. That means the Republicans will again choose the majority leader and chair the committees.

However, the old majority leader, Senator Frist, has retired. They would pick a new one anyway.

8. The Senate ain't tied...Webb WON Virginia
What the fuck, people. I had to deal with a bunch of Republicans running around saying "President ELECT BUsh" the day after the 2000 election. Let's get with it. The Senate is ours. Webb won it. Fucking period. This is how you keep people from fucking with your victories.

12. Technically, it is.
But the two Indies, Sanders and Lieberman (please God) will caucus with the Democrats, so that makes it 51-49.
