6. Yeah, let's wait for his confirmation hearing
It might be a tad more interesting with a Democratic chair of the committee.

10. Because we like to see the bright side once in awhile?
Rummy is an evil old cancer on our democracy, and this move weakens Cheney, another evil fuck, considerably. It is also a humiliating cashiering, forced upon the neo-cons by the public, much to their chagrin. This is all good stuff. We'll cross the Gates bridge when we get to it. I know it must be hard, and we've been down so long it looks like up to us, etc., but you have to learn how to CELEBRATE A FUCKING VICTORY!!!!!

11. I've heard he's less of an idealogue than Rumsfeld and more of a realist.
He's in tight with his Dad's circle who all think the war was idiotic. Sounds more hopeful than Rummy the Dummy.

at his confirmation hearings when Poppy appointed him DCIA.
It was televised public congressional hearings,
I hope those videos show up on the web soon.

neo-cons are not connected to reality in any way, shape or form

15. Okay, do I need to put my tin foil hat and sit in the corner now, but
is it possible that Bush nominates someone he things the Dems will object to in hopes that the person gets rejected. Then Bush nominates Lieberman to show he is "reaching across party lines". Lieberman resigns his Senate seat and a new senator is appointed by the Republican governor. Voila, the Senate flips back to Republican.

18. I'll tell you why I think its good.
Poppy just booted Cheney from being puppetmaster for Shrub.

Poppy has James Baker and his cronies out to end the war. They KNOW its a lost cause and will never ever be anything but a big rat hole. Poppy said that in his book in the 1990's as to why he didn't try to conquer Iraq.

These goons of Poppy's....they're an evil, vile bunch, but they know how to get things done. They're the Don's Capo's.

The beginning of the end of Iraq has begun, although it may take a couple of years to play out. But it has STARTED and to me that's very very important.

19. I'm just a crazy person, I guess
I'm actually going to enjoy one of the largest electoral wipeouts in American history, the shattering of the neo-con's power, the humiliation of Bush and Rove, the salvaging of the Constitution, and the dismissal of Rumsfeld, who has so much blood on his hands that he makes Lady MacBeth look like a piker by comparison.

For a day, I am going to resist the General-Discussion phenomenon and not be permanently pissed off.

Call me crazy. We'll deal with Gates tomorrow.
