your term is two short years . . . which means your campaign for re-election starts TODAY . . .
depressing, ain't it? . . . but that's the reality of the situation . . . everything you say and do from this day forward will be catalogued, evaluated, dissected, commented upon, and saved for possible use (either for you or against you) at a later date . . .
when you get to Washington, you're going to be pushed and pulled from every direction from the minute you first set foot in our nation's capitol -- lobbyists, PACs, constituents, interest groups, the party, the opposing party, and potential 2008 opponents, to name but a few . . . maintaining your independence and your values as you deal with these pressures will likely be the most formidible challenge you will ever face . . .
and your life will no longer be your own . . . when Congress is in session, you'll have to fly home to the district every weekend to attend as many constituent meetings, events, wedding, bar mitzvahs, funerals, fairs, auctions, and fund raisers as you can fit into two days . . . then it's back to DC and back to work . . .
all I can say is "Good luck!" . . . 'cause y'all are gonna need it . . .:patriot:
