So, who is the better republican? |
|
Schwarzenegger or Chafee?
Scwarzenegger for all his shortcomings, does not seem to be cut from the same stock as the PNACers - or am I wrong? He has been reaching across the aisle a lot lately, yes? He has been fairly green, yes? I know when he was being a prick in 2005, the people told him to stuff it and he revised his ways. Is he a terrible thug or a reasonable one like Chafee?
I used to live in Cali, but I am in NYC now.

Scwarzenegger is more annoying and more of an asshole, and yet, he has taken some very progressive stands. Just as a Democrat in the South must be more moderate, a Republican in California should have progressive stands on social issues, like Arnold does. But I still understand why he's a Republican - I would never think of him as a Democrat.
Chafee on the other hand, comes across as a gentleman, one who tries to work with the other side. I can't recall him being insulting towards Democrats. And yet, he was the ultimate enabler. You sensed he didn't approve of what much of his party was doing, but didn't really try to stop it. I don't understand why he didn't switch parties.
So, which is worse, the proud asshole or the gentlemanly enabler?

Please don't hand the giddy Demeter any straight lines for at least a week. The temptation is way too strong....
