Can the people influence the vote for House Majority Leader?
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 05:34 PM by BurtWorm
Can we start a campaign to reward Murtha for his leadhership on Iraq?

EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM...Looks like Steny Hoyer isn't wasting any time launching his campaign for majority leader. John Murtha is still expected to challenge him, but the buzz is that Steny's got it pretty much wrapped up.

Time will tell whether that's good or bad news for Democrats, but our take -- and everything else you might want to know about the prospective House #2 -- is here.

1. No, Nancy Pelosi should be the Speaker anyhow...
Murtha did a great thing, but the Speaker's position should rightly go to Pelosi. It's time to take some of the idiotic testosterone out of our capital leadership positions anyhow.

8. I apologize.
I should have read that more fully. Thanks for pointing out the obvious though. Yes, I agree with Murtha being the Majority Leader. Not a lot of difference between him and Steny Hoyer. -sp?-

2. We the people can effect anything
Yesterday proved that it is possible for the people to have a say in government regardless of what Dick Cheney thinks.

He works for us, not the corporations and we need to remind him and his pet monkey of that.

5. Two reasons to support Murtha for Majority Leader.
1) He is not Steny Hoyer, who wants to be Speaker and for that reason has it in for Nancy Pelosi.

2) Murtha can move the Dems to keep Iraq on the forefront of the agenda. He can be the face of the Dems' serious effort to get the US out of Iraq.

7. Right now, I've only heard of Hoyer and Murtha.
Has anyone heard of other candidates?
