This thought or premonition struck me this afternoon...
I forsee Darth Cheney bugging out for health or more likely legal reasons, and leaving Bush with Nancy Pelosi to deal with as VP. Wouldn't that be a hoot!

If the VP goes away, the president gets to nominate a new one.

Does the House & Senate vote on the replacement? Does it require a 2/3rds vote?
Or is there an actual emergency election?

7. If they are impeached in the same trial, |
|
then the Speaker of the House gets the job. If they are impeached in seperate trials, then whoever is left behind first gets to nominate a new VP.

That's not what happened to Ford. Spiro Agnew quit. Nixon nominated a new VP (Ford). The VP was approved. Nixon quit. Ford took over.

16. He should be right below the Secretary of Defense |
|
under the recently adopted law.
Or, he may be under the Attorney General, not certain.

18. Can we keep it from passing |
|
before we take over? DHS belongs in its proper place: the bottom of the list.
