VIRGINIA SENATE NEWS: Counting provisional ballots, Webb still leads with 94% of precincts reporting
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 06:27 PM by originalpckelly

This is the page to watch:

http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/index.htm

Last batch of provisionals came in, they appeared to narrow Webb's lead. This is not going to be something which can be added up. I can't be certain of how many provisional ballots were cast or in whose favor (though in most contests Democrats do well in provisional ballots.)

Hold on folks this is going to be a roller coaster.

This from their website:
"Important Note about Percentage of Precincts Reporting:
The percentage of precincts reporting has changed due to the start of the canvas and the counting of provisional ballots. For reporting purposes, the day immediately following the election, each locality creates one conditional vote (CV) precinct, per congressional district, in which to report their provisional votes. Localities with no provisional votes will show total votes of zero in the CV precinct for each candidate/ballot issue."

They say the canvas has started, that means they are heading towards a final election tally.

1. They are calling it "Conditional Votes" on the board of elections...

website.

I think this must be the technical name for provisional ballot. This is good for us usually, Democrats usually do good in provisional no matter where it is in the union.

2. WEBB LEAD IS AT 1/3 of a percent: 7347 votes.
Provisional ballots, pray they increase the lead not reduce it.

5. You'll have to select "Locality" in the View results by line...
then go through and look at each county precinct by precinct. That is how you'll know when the provisionals come. It appears as "Conditional Votes (Precinct Code)"

6. Update 1: New precincts but no new votes, reporting precincts at 94.73%
I think this will probably be good for Webb, because as I have said so many times before, Democrats do good in provisional ballots.

9. The lead is the same percentage it was earlier
If it "narrowed" it, it did it by a few votes at most.

Webb won, the VA election officials were evan saying it on national and local TV today. This is just tying up lose ends.

10. I know, but there were some DUers who were afraid...
I am trying to provide them with the info.

:-)

It's more than 7000 votes, it isn't going to evaporate.

11. Ah, sorry!
There have been so many "doom and gloom" posts (some intentional, if you get my drift), that I was afraid that's what you were saying! Webb won... yay!

13. Yeah, I know...
I am really excited, because aside from one or two votes, there aren't probably going to be enough provisional ballots to reverse the lead.

These provisional ballots won't add to much if I am correct.

23. I just went on through all the counties, provisional ballots aren't adding up much...
there are only a couple few in each precinct, most precincts have hundreds or thousands of votes.

Most of the provisional ballots I've seen, have been going to George Allen, but it must be noted there aren't many of them. Interesting.
