Can someone smart help me figure out the Robin Hayes/Larry Kissell race?
With 100% of precincts reporting, Hayes (possibly the biggest Bush sycophant in Congress and that's saying a lot)has a 346 vote lead (61,168 to 60,822). It doesn't appear that provisional votes have been counted yet, but I'm not 100% sure on that because of the pathetic media here in NC. Does anyone know if Kissell still has a chance of taking Hayes out?

1. I got an email from him saying that
they are still counting and that Democratic lawyers are on their way.

3. Here's something from WSOCTV in Charlotte
http://www.wsoctv.com/news/10274733/detail.html

And you're right, the provisionals have not been counted yet. We won't know until the provisional ballots come in and then the re-count is done (if the official total has the difference still under 1%). My stomach aches from the waiting. I picked the wrong week to quit buying meth and throwing it away.

6. Sure, that could happen.
There is a chance that Kissell could take the lead with provisionals but there would still be a re-count because I don't see the number of provisional votes for Kissell being greater than the 1% needed to stop a re-count. It is possible but you just don't know till it's all counted and the fat lady is singing. (Someone who has more experience with close races and re-counts and provisional ballots can jump in and let us know if that's wrong.)

5. I think it's very possible
I also think it's very possible that, should the unthinkable happen, my sorry-ass county will be the one that sends that worthless POS Hayes back to Washington.

According to this morning's Observer, Cumberland County (the east end of NC-8, which stretches from Concord to Fayetteville) went Hayes 53%/Kissell 47%. Hayes does a lot of things for defense contractors, and he throws this big Military Contracting Fair in Fayetteville every year. We have only one textile plant (MJSoffe) and it's going strong, so the people around here focus more on what he does for the military (lots and lots of pork for defense contractors, almost none of whom are in his district--the only one that's headquartered here, or at least was until it was bought out, is Paraclete Armour in St. Pauls, which employs about 100) than on what he did to the textile business with CAFTA.

Assuming the majority of the provisionals are from the central and western parts of NC-8 (especially Kannapolis!), we should be okay.

7. Kannapolis is Cabarrus which went for Hayes, I think it would
be better for Kissell for the prov. to come from Mecklenburg which went bigger for Kissell.

9. Hayes Ran Some Of The Most Negative Ads Anywhere(except for Robinson)
The level of distortion Hayes used against Kissell was despicable.

SOP with this guy.

If we could send him packing, things would improve dramatically for NC. If he prevails, he will be nothing but a well-financed thorn in the side of the new Democratic Majority.

If I had been Kissell I would have run ads that constantly reminded voters that Hayes voted for CAFTA. People in that district understood CAFTA.

13. Thank you so much for doing that! If I were there with you, I'd give
you a hug; I hope this will be ok - :pals: He's such a good guy, smart, caring, and he wants the best for our district. I really appreciate your help!
