of this election, I asked myself "Self, when did you actually know that the Dems would sweep big?" And it came to me in (yet another) blinding epiphany - it was the bumper stickers! They were the dog that did not bark!
In short, dear reader, they did not exist. I live in a red state and I saw barely ANY bumper stickers or yard signs for the Republican incumbent or any Republicans for that matter. Add to this, all the Bush/Cheney stickers had been scraped off and replaced with "Proud Parent of an Honor Student at MindNumbing Middle School".
Simple, really. Passion lacking on the Republican side due to plain old embarrassment.

Wilson (R-COW) signs around here, mostly the hilariously disinformed "Another Veteran for Heather" signs.
That's why I'm amazed the race is so close we don't yet know who won.
