Like many i started this 2 years ago today
I just want to say thank you to every single person on these boards, we worked together many more then others (i really stopped after the failed bid to stop the certification of the votes after 04 election) but thank you to everyone. We believed in the system and our great constitution did not fail us, we held the faith and we were more then rewarded today for that.

I would like to make a plea to everyone, i think we genuinely need to move forward and let all the shit they did to us go. We need to fix the stuff that we can fix (iraq, health care, hell almost everything) but what we don't need is to become like them. I don't want to snicker and rub it in their faces, our victory speaks for itself. When we mention the name bush i don't want there to be boos, when we talk about the losers of this election (santorum and all the leaders) we shouldn't be pissed off, like our new senator from NJ Menendez says we don't have to be like them, whining and bitching when we are in power would make us as like them and we aren't. Thats why justice prevailed and why we now control the house and hopefully the senate, because we aren't like them. So lets make sure we show nothing but class to all of our friends that are misguided. Lets show them the respect and dignity that we deserved over these last 6 years that we could not get from them. We all know who is right so we need not stoop to their level, we got it, now lets keep it and do some great things with it!

Thanks to everyone again.

1. Bullshit. We need to be the party that speaks of accountability
and means it. We are a nation of laws, not of men. If they bend the rules, break the laws, or manipulate the public with lies, they must be exposed and made to answer to their actions.

In the words of the Dixie Chicks, I'm not ready to make nice. I have kids and their future depends on us getting it right and keeping it right. That is the world that was handed to us, and we should hand down no less.

Screw making nice. It's time to bring back the pride in doing what's right because it's the right thing, not just because someone might be watching.

Too many lives have been lost to their crimes, too many futures have been derailed with their fiscal policies, and too many chances to change direction have already been lost. Not one more opportunity will pass unnoticed.

The world is watching what we do now, even more than before. We have one shot to live up to our own rhetoric and one only.

No pain no gain. Bring on the investigations. Shine the light!

Welcome to DU btw. My rant is not meant to be unwelcoming at all. It's just how I feel. I'm too old to play around with their reindeer games anymore. Time to bring the serious.

2. Had most of these people been jailed for Iran Contra, the mess
today might not have been as bad as it is.

As for fixing things - I am worried about the economy. * has really screwed it up. Almost 9 trillion in debt. Before he canceled the M3 report he increased the money supply by 50%. Word is he has the presses on full throttle since March. He has ticked off the entire world. Countries are dropping the dollar like crazy. We are on the edge. We make almost nothing. We import almost everything. Our educational system is a disaster. We are in deep trouble, and I have no idea how bad it really is.

4. THE NUMBER ONE Issue in The Exit Polls was corruption
That means that if the democrats don't address that corruption, they'll be seen as shirking the job they were elected for.

Like someone posted above, we wouldn't be in this mess if those responsible for the Iran-Contra mess had been properly prosecuted. We DON'T need these slimey, and very guilty, neo-cons crawling back under a rock to hide for a few election cycles.

5. No
nothing good will come out of witch hunting, look at my damn name i am no freeper, i just think the best thing for the country is to take the sacrificial lamb they gave us (rummypoo) focus on the issues (i am assuming rove will go down thanks to abromoff) and make some change. Lets show the repukes class because that is the most patriotic thing we can do, i want all of our attention on getting our troops out of harms way, the fastest way to do that is not to take bush to the gallows, its to threaten to take him there if he doesn't do what needs to be done to protect our people.

9. No, back at you. people who have committed CRIMES need to be prosecuted.
Are you saying that criminals, war profiteers (which there are LAWS against), corrupt government officials taking bribes - and so forth, should get a free 'get out of jail card'?

7. I'll Just Have Fun With Them For a Little While...
...& then I will quit. I mean, come on, my problem with the far-Right pre-dates the Bush admin. I've gone through a lot of depression because of their policies, particularly economic ones. I think I have a right to rub their faces in their loss for a few days or so. Once I get it out of my system, I will move on.
