I've been thinking about this "gradual pullout" thing. Wouldn't it be akin to taking off a bandage very slowly? And how exactly would the guys feel who were the very very last to go? Allll by themselves? Not cool.

What bugs me about this whole thing is that REPUBLICANS with their fearmongering and incompetence got us INTO this mess. Then they have the cajones to turn around and say "well??? don't you have any ideas???" Fuck, you broke it, YOU fix it. But no, it's all our mess now. Assholes.

Why don't THEY have any ideas other than "let's stay there longer and have more troops killed?"

I'm curious as to what the Baker commission comes up with next week, but in the meantime, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about what to do.

1. I would get the warring factions at the peace table
if they want us out let's talk to them, ask them what they want, do they want us to
leave, is that the sole reason for blowing people up and killing others in neighborhoods,
could we form a peace coalition? People say incorporating the militias are a bad idea, so
either we fight them by expanding the war or we negotiate with them, what other choices
do we have and if the projected military models did not guarantee victory with a commitment
of 400,000; I would suggest we negotiate with them. I don't think partitioning the country
if it is not their choice will work.

4. Pull out Halliburton and the other defense contractors.
Pull out the 20,000 mercenaries. Lastly, pull out the troops. The reason the troops should be pulled out ASAP is there are a lot of stories of our troops stopping Iraqis, taking them in for interrogation for a couple of hours and then letting go. Some of these Iraqis got suspicious and checked their truck or car to find out there had been explosives planted on the vehicle. Sometimes they've spotted the helicopter following them. Plus 2 US soldiers and one Brit soldier have been caught in Arab clothing bringing in a vehicle with explosions in them. We are part of the problem. We have to get them out. The Brits too.

And another reason to pull out the troops is it looks like we are never leaving. 12 permanent bases. 99% of the "insurgents" are Iraqi fighting for their own country. Time to get out.

8. First of all--apologize
Ask the UN to set up peacekeeping forces and pull our troops out now.
Ship megatons of building supplies to Iraq.
Destroy the bases we have started to build over there.
Send money for reparations.
Oh, and apologize again.
Iraq was an independant society before we decimated it.
They can be again. But it is there country, they need to work it out.

11. I have always thought we owe the Iraqi people
a HUGE ass apology.

(Well, the bush administration owes them a huge ass apology. I hope they aren't holding their breath, though. Never gonna happen.)

12. I WOULD SET UP AN ACCOUNT..FOR THE HIRING OF iRAQI
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 09:02 PM by flyarm
CITIZENS.. and i would bring in every international country..and ask them to over see the rebuilding and the hiring of every Iraqi citizen to rebuild their own nation..i would have people set up to train and over see them rebuilding their own country..immediately...

there is 60% unemployment in Iraq by Iraqi citizens..idle hands means you are asking for trouble,.when they invest their own sweat in the rebuilding of their country..they will stop fighting..

animals don't shit in their own space..neither do human beings..! The Iraqi's have been being treated like animals buy our country..and they have no hope!

these wonderful people need hope, and jobs and the near sightedness of a future..

they need to biuild their country for themselves..with the help of multi- international co-operation..

we must get out now..

we are like a splinter..under the skin..as long as we are there inflamation will fester forever...until the splinter forms infection ..and needs to be removed..whatever means nessessary...

we can not do this..we need a peaceful people to come and help those poor people..they need the stability of others.we can not and will not help these people rebuild..our name must be removed..we are the splinter........

13. Establish better relations with the world's community and ask for help in bringing peace.
This is to the point we may not be able to do it alone. Now that the world has seen the people speak, they may be ready to help us.
