Congratulations Democrats; Now the Real Work Begins

America has spoken and the message is clear: We expect our government to be transparent, responsible and accountable. At the national level, Republicans failed miserably the past few years in delivering this expectation. This is why it comes as no surprise that voters have provided Democrats the opportunity to institute fundamental reforms in Congress.

Among the reforms we hope they will successfully pursue:

· Ethics – It’s time to put real oversight and teeth into congressional ethics rules;

· Earmarks (a.k.a. pork) – Taxpayers deserve straightforward budgets limited to the core functions of government. All earmarks should be rejected and appropriations should follow the normal budget process;

· Spending – A balanced budget amendment to the Constitution is long overdue. We can’t afford continued out-of-control federal spending.

With super-control of Olympia for the next two years, state Democrats should also place checks on government’s power. A good place to start would be with fundamental reforms to the state’s budget process to help improve its transparency, accountability and sustainability.

... when we all know these guys hit K Street running, as soon as they took over in 1994.

Corrupt at the core, and riddled with holes throughout.

after 6 years of total scrutiny Osama has not been found hiding in the
men's room at the local Walmart, there were 19 hijackers on that sad day,
there are 300 million mostly good, honest hard working Americans who
deserve the protections of our legal system, they deserve the right to
privacy guaranteed them in the Constitution, they deserve the right to
habeas corpus and they have the right to a trial by a jury by their peers,
our fellow Americans are not the enemy and have never been the enemy.
Those among us who break the law can be dealt with under existing surveillance
programs in place in our country. We have to restore this nation to the rule
of law and the constitution upon which it was founded.

13. Dear Freeper: If We Needed Your Input, The Repubs Would've Won.
Guess what, we don't need your stinkin advice. We know just fine what needs to be done alllllllll on our own. So sit back in the minority and shut up. We're in the majority now.

:rofl:
