http://senate.gov/pagelayout/committees/d_three_sections_with_teasers/committees_home.htmIn most of these cases, you can just move the ranking member over to the Chairman position. However, there will be some dominoes that fall because some of them will be gone - mainly Jim Jeffords.
The new chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry: Tom Harkin
Appropriations: Robert Byrd
Armed Services: Carl Levin
Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs: Paul Sarbanes
Budget: Kent Conrad
Commerce, Science and Transportation: Daniel Inouye
Energy and Natural Resources: Jeff Bingaman
Finance: Max Baucus
Foreign Relations: Joe Biden
Health, Education, Labor and Pensions: Edward M. Kennedy
Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs: Joe Lieberman
Judiciary: Patrick Leahy
Rules and Administration: Chris Dodd
Small Business and Entrepreneurship: John Kerry
Veterans Affairs: Daniel Akaka.
The wildcard is Environment and Public Works, which would be headed up by Jim Jeffords. With him leaving the Senate, it is unclear who would take over. Baucus is next in line, but would he want to give up Finance? Lieberman is next, but no way is he leaving DHSGA, unless the Democrats force him out and I wouldn't hold my breath. Fourth in line within the current committee is Barbara Boxer.
