2. They don't report it because they're corporate whores who shill for the elitist Republican goverment |
|
that pays their salaries. (Your question was probably rhetorical but I couldn't resist answering anyway.)

Yeah, it was rhetorical, but I did want people to answer it any to facilitate discussion.

in reality (i'm ball-parking numbers here...) only 10% of the vote swung in our favor. But the country was so close to 50/50 that even a swing of 5% would have seemed like a landslide because of all the races that switched. The voters have sent a very clear message, and that is all.
Now... if the Democrats take these two years and start to turn this country around, and once again retain or increase their majority and the House/Senate in '08, as well as pick up the Presidency...
Then we'll have one huge F*%!in MANDATE :D

"The voters have sent a very clear message.."
Yeah, in English that's called a mandate.
Chimpy won a questionable election by .5% of the vote and went around screeching about a mandate and the media lapped it up.
This is a REAL mandate. The House, The Senate, The State Legislatures, The Governorships and NOT ONE SINGLE DEM INCUMBENT LOST A SEAT.
That is a clear, indisputable repudiation of everything Republican and a mandate if there ever was one.

9. It's a mandate, but it's not free rein |
|
It's a mandate, but not free rein.
The breadth of the win is sweeping, but it is not deep. That indicates that it was a repudiation of Shrub Bush, not a rush to embrace the Democratic party. The margins in many of the races were a lot smaller than the margins in the 94 election. If the Democrats get drunk on power, it will rebound and they'll be out in 2008.
The party and the elected politicians have two years to prove they deserve power and re-election. They can do it if they keep it in mind. Pelosi seems like a perfect disciplined leader to accomplish it.

5. No ending commentary from KO??? |
|
I was waiting for the end of KO to hear another one of his powerful speech/commentary endings tonight, focusing on the results of today's blue tsunami. Nothing. NOTHING. Just Brittany Spears and Fed-ex. What's up? No acknowledgment of the return of America to Americans? No acknowledgment of stopping the slippery slope of fascism? No long commentary about * finally being reigned in by We The People?

7. Because the Democratic leaders aren't arrogant pricks |
|
and they haven't come out and declared that we have a mandate.
While on the subject, has anybody seen an analysis of the "popular vote"? It would be interesting to see.

8. They Should Though Because The DO HAVE ONE |
|
Ok, I'm willing to believe they have more class and therefore aren't coming out and saying it, but why aren't any of the pundits saying it? After all, they were more than willing to call Chimpy's bullshit '04 "win" a mandate w/ .5% of the vote. This is sort of rhetorical, merely to draw attention to the disgusting media bias, because a truly objective, fair media WOULD call this win a mandate because it's pretty much the accepted political term for what happenend and yet, I see mentioned nowhere.

10. They are reporting it, just not using the word "mandate" |
|
I hear them saying the American people voted for change and a new direction, which basically amounts to saying they gave them a mandate. A mandate for what? That's debatable, but I think clearly the people want the Dems to push for a solution to the Iraq mess, curb the excesses of the Bush administration and hold it accountable, and end the Republican culture of corruption.
If the Dems take it as a mandate to do whatever the hell they want, as Bush did, they will eventually meet the same fate the Repugs did this year.

11. Why not tally the 'R' and 'D' votes across the country? |
|
Let's see the size of that mandate.
