Bush makes "THE CALL"
Yesterday Rumsfeld "resigned" and will be replaced by Robert Gates, ex-CIA under Bush the first. James Baker, now Bob Gates. Soon the whole Bush 41 team will be back in action. Six years too late, but better late than never.

Then it occurred to me that this is nothing new.

Back in his college days George got in trouble for vandalism. He called Daddy and got it fixed.

Then there was that DUI in Kennebunkport . Daddy got it expunged from the record.

During Vietnam he called on Daddy to get him a slot in the TANG.

George had a bit of trouble with truancy during his TANG duty, so he called on Daddy again to get him an honorable discharge.

Out in West Texas the oil business wasn’t going well, so he called Daddy and got some help with that.

Daddy appointed the SEC chairman who investigated George’s stock sales at Harkin. Now that was convenient.

Daddy arranged the introductions to the business contacts who eventually made the Texas Rangers deal happen.

When George wanted to run for office he called Daddy again and loe and behold he’s Governor. He tried doing it by himself once but that was a mistake and he lost.

Moving from Texas to the White House wasn’t hard with Daddy to help grease the wheels with advice and the good ole’ boy network.

Finally he gets into the Oval Office and tries things on his own for six years. The surplus in gone, the economy stinks, he’s had to change the rules on unemployment and wetlands to keep from looking completely stupid and Iraq has cost him the control of Congress.

I can almost hear the phone call. “Hey, Dad, whatcha’ doin’? Aw that’s great. Say, while I got ya’ on the phone kin I ask a favor? Gee, thanks Dad I knew I could count on you! Well, this whole Irak thing is all screwed up. They’s still a killin’ our boys an’ gals and we ain’t even got any oil out of the deal. Yeah, you’re right, Unka’ Dick is doing ok with his Halliburton stock but now this Pelosi bitch is gonna start askin’ questions ‘bout that too. Anyways, any chance ya’ kin send somebody over to hep me out a bit? James Baker? Oh man, that’ud be great! That asshole Kissinger ain’t been no help at all, so Jimmy might be just the ticket. Who’s that? Robert Gates? Hey, he sounds like a great guy who just might be what I need, but whut am I gonna’ do with Rummy? Dad, you don’t really mean that, do ya’? Couldn’t he just resign or sumthin’? I mean, people are watchin’ small airplanes real close these days. Okay Dad, thanks for the help. Yeah, I’ll give Cond ---- uh, I mean Laura, a real big hug for ya’.”
