Allow me to share my thoughts with the DU community, and by doing so purge myself of a bit of baggage and stupidity.

I believed Rove to be an evil genius. I believed there would be an October Surprise, and when the Saddam verdict was handed down, I said "There it is". When the GOP made thousands of robo-calls, I said "Fucking turdblossum."

I knew that rigging this election would be hard, if not imposibble, by the nature of the election consisting of hundreds of local and regional races. A cooridinated effort involving hundreds of people would be necessary. I knew Blackwell was powerless to save Allen.

I knew all this, but fear was stronger than logic. The image of a smirking turdblossum and chimp was enough to get me to chuck logic out the window and replace it with fear. Fear is a strong motivator. Nobody knows this better than Rove, who rams terra down our fucking throats constantly. Only I wasn't afraid of terrorists blowing up the Quik Stop, I was afraid of what rove would do to rig the elections.

Only it never happened. Maybe they did fuck around here and there, maybe Webb won by 50,000 votes, not 7,000. Maybe they didn't. All I know is I spent the past 6 months in fear of what Rove would do.

Which makes me an asshole.

There. I said it. And I'm feeling better already.

I think they did try to steal this one. Look at the exit polls and how they matched actual votes EXCEPT for Webb and Tester. They weren't supposed to win in the Rove playbook. I think they had several other election day tricks but their minions may have had cold feet due in very large part to the Democratic oversight of all unusual activity. Voters were taking their video cameras and filming unusual activity and then going home and uploading it to YouTube.

You were probably right my friend. Rove just didn't count on what we collectively did... He didn't anticipate how mobilized the Democrats were going to be. How big our GOTV would be. He is a very bad man and is very clever at what he does. He is not a genius... you are right there!

Do you think they fucked around in Montana and Virginia? I figured they did, that WEbb and Tester won bigger than the results indicated? Wouldn't surprise me. When they said they were recounting Yellowstione my balls were in my throat. I looked at the counties with 25% reporting and they were all heavily Burns. I said "Shit, here it comes". All I can say is it's a good thing that we showed up in numbers big enough to maintain our majorities. That's the real lesson I learned here. They can only go so far.

We don't know why the 2000 and 2004 exit polls were off. We don't know. But either way..it worked to the advantage of the GOP. And they did suppress in a number of ways (this time it seemed the GOP did only Robotcalls and one attempted strangulation). And that is why we need to address transparency asap. The House should get on that first. So we all trust that our vote will count. And do not end up fighting each other due to lack of information.

Screw that, the important thing is to get out the vote, get so many people to the polls that their cheating and shenanigans and surprises won't matter.

They pulled all the tricks they could pull. They had their coordinated Big Summer of Terra Fear including the Huge Gel Bomb Plot. They got the Saddam verdict right on schedule. They attempted a Dean Scream coordinated media meltdown attack on Kerry. They made a VERY TIMELY BIG RAID ON PERVERTS. They fucked up our GOTV effort here in my state of New Hampshire with their robocalls, and they pulled the same stunt elsewhere. They used the Bullshit Media System to pull the 'buy one run get 1,000 runs for free' for their nasty ads (and the Corker ad 'call me' did Ford in.) They cleverly ran the gas price down just in time for the election. They had their whole game running and they still lost.

They lost because we just kept going. They lost because 12 years of criminal incompetence is very difficult to pave over with a fresh layer of total bullshit. It is difficult, in fact pretty much impossible, to get your fundaloon base all enthused to vote when your fundaloon leaders are having meth fueled ass sex with male prostitutes and/or IMing dirty messages to underage house pages of the same sex. Katrina. Iraq. OB Who? Foley. Haggard. Gee it is a wonder that any Republican managed to get re-elected for anything.

They really are thugs and criminals. They really did again cheat lie and steal. They just are not so good at it that they could overcome the substantial obstacles in their way.
