Is your high as high in 2006 as your low was low in 2004
Did that make ANY sense? I think my low was much lower the day after the election in 2004. My high isn't approaching the same level. The only time it's come even close was when I heard Rummy resigned. I cackled.

But no, there's still a bittersweet tinge to it. Anyone else feel that?

1. I have a really surreal, walking through water feeling almost...
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 11:01 PM by MrsGrumpy
I can't believe this is happening, I didn't get my hopes up yesterday like I did in '04 and I think that is why I am having trouble computing. I'm still at the "Wait...what?" stage.

My high is close...
I was feeling REALLY low in '04. I felt like I was at a funeral. I suppose I was, in a way. I think eventually the happiness will hit me, and then the high will be up there.

3. No. I will still weep for those lost in bush's war.
And that is not over by a long shot.

5. I knew that all was lost in 2004 and right now I'm still scared to be thrilled
But I just now found out that we won VA for sure, give me a few and I'll get over it!

6. I agree. My low in 2004 was parking-garage-level rock-bottom. And the hangover was painful.
Today, it's encouraging but we need to see progressive change come soon. By the way, you pose a good question.

7. 2004 still hurts, LC
This will help it some, though. The good Dems in Congress will be able to do part of what JK would have done, hopefully. This certainly beats losing this year, too!

8. It will take us ten years to clean up the mess that six years
of * has wrought, and we're realists about that. Just the damage to the environment alone...aaaargh! We are action-oriented people. We know that there is work to do, and we kinda dread it, but it means that we just can't get all giddy about finally getting to the point where we CAN start the work.

9. 2004 changed me. I lost faith in my countrymen.
I will forgive but can't forget what they broke -and we have to fix now.

I'm very very relieved. And now we have to force the Dems to lead like Dems. They will go on auto-waffle if we let them.

I am very happy, but bush winning was one of the worst things that happened to this country, ever.

13. I really felt the country let me down
by not giving bush the boot in 2004. (I know they stole the margin but we should have been so overwhelming it wouldn't matter). Today is as sweet as 2004 was bad. The house picked up more seats than all but the most optimistic predictions. Last night I was resigned to the fact we probably wouldn't take the senate. 24 hours later we find out we won it all! All these great new Dems going to Washington, heading up the committees, starting to put things right again.

14. Nothing compares or contrasts to the body hit of 2004
I think we've become so accustomed to them pulling their dirty tricks, that we can't actually believe our euphoria can be long-lasting.
I won't truly feel confident until Jan. 21.
This guy can do alot of damage in the next 2 months....signing & executive orders.
He is vindictive & certainly has proved he is capable of anything!

15. Yeah, because the so-called Dem Sweep. . .
HAS to include "sweeping" the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld-Rove criminals into impeachment and/or trials for HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. . .so my high is compressed until Madame Speaker Pelosi follows through by ACCEPTING impeachment resolution from. . .oh, say Congressman Conyers!

17. I'm trying to figure out what the opposite of "moving to Canada" is
While we didn't make the move after 2004, we were strongly considering it. Now I feel like I may just stay after all :D

18. It's different...2004 was a horrible, raw, bloody wound
that still hasn't completely healed. Last night and today have been a warm, contented glow, like after-Thanksgiving-dinner visiting with family and sipping brandy or Scotch by the fireplace. I'm almost completely happy, but still, just thinking of what might have been, what has been squandered and lost and thrown away..."bittersweet tinge" says it just right. :toast:

20. No. I think part of me died in 04... all hope and optimism was shattered
Now, it feels surreal... it's still sinking in. There is an overwhelming feeling of relief, and hope is cautiously returning.

The high is fantastic, but the 04 low is one I will be telling my grandchildren about it was so devastating.

play too nice with the Repugs if we don't watch their every move....

Liebershit, Rahm and all those entrenched DLCers can't be trusted....

I want to see all of Bushco's crap EXPOSED...Conyers, Waxman will need our support.

I am glad we won both Houses, but things would be much better if we had a Democrat president. We have lived with an arrogant, incompetent, criminal president and crony and corrupt Congress for so long it hasn't sunk in yet.
