My message to all my friends
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 12:02 AM by Stop Shrub
I have never been so proud to be an American and a part of this culmination of democracy. We just did the unthinkable, we had a massive nonviolent revolution where we overthrew our government. No other culture or society in the history of man can claim to have accomplished what we all did yesterday, even if you are upset at the results we just showed the world what America is capable of, and feel like we all have to be proud of that! The US constitution proved again to be the most amazing document ever created, it flexed its real power today when we not only took over the house but the senate and ousted Rumsfeld all in one amazing day where we stood up together and said "we are mad as hell and we aren't gonna take it!"

I am sorry for taking out my frustrations on everyone for the last 6 years, i truly believed in this country and watching it tear itself apart took its toll on me and ultimately i took it out on you. I can honestly tell everyone that I never lost my faith in the constitution and the vindication that yesterday gave me has brought me more joy then i know how to express.

One of the reasons that we won this thing is because we had largest youth turnout in 20 years! That means that all of us took part in this and i am so damn proud of all of us. We did it, we all bitched and complained and felt like things would never change, but if we really felt that way we wouldn't have shown up at the polls and made the difference yesterday! Over night America got its dignity and integrity back, and all of us were are part of that. Now i know the dems are going to be far from perfect and we will be lucky if we get half of what we want done, but we sent a referendum to DC and changes are going to take place. It wont be perfect but nothing can ultimately be perfect, we are moving in the right direction now and it feels amazing and empowering!

I apologize for all of my self righteous diatribes over the years, but the truth is i feel like i was a part of this and its important that everyone else understand that we were all a part of this. We just changed the world, there is no other way to interpret it, we did it, we can hold our heads up high knowing we took responsibility for our mistakes and we are now committed to fixing those mistakes.

Thank you everyone for everything.

- Humbled and euphoric ben
