1. Good idea. Truth to tell, there's not much that happened in the
last 6 years that doesn't need to be UNdone, REdone, thrown out completely or fixed in one way or twenty.

2. Wasn't there much Dem support for that?
I'm in absolute agreement with you, but doesn't seem like it will be a high priority.

3. Strategically, that's a fantastic idea.
The Dems are very worried about the bills they put forward in the next few years - they don't want to fulfill any of the fear prophecies the Republicans put forward during the campaign (they'll raise taxes! Appease the terrorists! Kill the economy! blah blah). But this item is one that I believe would be popular with the vast majority of people.

I hope they do it.

9. For the people, it is a fantastic idea.
The ability of individuals (not corporations) to get a financial fresh start has been a constant in American law until recently. Unforseen illness or medical bills, divorce, severe economic downturns, and credit card companies handing out cards with outrageous interest rates to anything breathing have precipitated the need for Chapter 7 bankruptcies more than ever. However, the neocons graced the corporate fascists with the recent bankruptcy reform so they could continue to exploit people and, in addition, enslave them for the rest of their lives.

Dems, please repeal this bullshit reform NOW!

4. Another attack on the middle class
To be fair though an alternative would be more sensitivity to the financial burdens middle class Americans experience. For instance there should be more restrictions on predatory lenders. Ridiculous hospital bills for unforeseen events should not destroy peoples' lives. It should be easier to obtain affordable loans for essentials like education, homes, and automobiles, and to keep them in the event of an uncontrollable financial disaster. In other words, people should know that if they work hard, they can achieve the American dream no matter what.

17. I'm with you 250%!!
We're putting our paperwork together to file Chapter 7, and we should have done it before the verdammt "reforms" passed - but our situation was not nearly as dire as it is now. A level playing field would be nice.

8. I agree & lets go after the those that are hiring illegal aliens
& put some of them in jail. If there are no jobs available then a lot of illegal aliens will not come. A big part of the immigration solution that the repukes will not enforce.

10. Better than a tax break
Stricter regulation of credit cards, late fees, and loan shark interest rates could easily result in more dollars in middle class pockets. A crackdown on predatory lenders would actually boost the economy far more than tax cuts for millionaires.

12. You are SO correct, hawkowl88.
Credit card companies are given free reign to exploit people and fuck them incessantly with interest and late fees. It is anti-American the way those companies are allowed to behave.

23. There was absolutely no justification for that bill
It was an abomination, passed simply to protect an already extremely profitable, wealthy, unscrupulous, and greedy industry.

Even the New Republic opposed it...and they kissed a lot of republican ass and attacked liberals an awful lot in recent years.

It passed because Dem's voted for it.

Choose our battles wisely.

Pick the issues off one by one...

Don't over reach.

26. Amen.
That's a very bad law. I worked for a federal bankruptcy judge during the time the law went into effect, and it's a travesty. It needs to go.
