What becomes of Ned Lamont?
Done with politics? Maybe a run for Congress (try a stab at Chris Shays in two years)?

My guess is done. He's been (unfortunately) tarred as a loony-lefty and Connecticut tends to send moderate liberals to Congress. Of course, that's what Lamont IS. But it's not how he's perceived.

But any thoughts?

1. Ouch.
I don't want to consider that. He should be Senator Lamont from Connecticut. It's too painful to think of alternative futures for him.

4. I know of another tagged "loony lefty" who just led the party...
to an unprecented win. Lamont is a great guy, he has a big future ahead of him. His time will come if he wants it.

It was the party who tagged that person who helped us win back congress...tagged him as loony. His own party.

Same for Lamont...Lieberman did that..Lamont's own party.

He will survive, he has earned more respect than Joe.

And that loony lefty crazy guy on The Daily Show tonight had a big grin that he fully earned.

Don't worry about Lamont.

6. Lieberman's win
makes Lamont look just plain bad on paper. I've said this before: If Lamont wasn't a white multi-Billionaire, he'd have a lot more sympathy. Instead, he'll go down in history as an out-of-touch anti-war rich guy who tried to replace a Democratic party icon.

8. not loony, just risky maybe
I don't think CT considers him a loony lefty. I am from the state and he had considerable support for a guy no one had ever heard of in the political realm. Joe is a a known figure, that's all, a man of stature, and people were not ready to trade him in. You should understand as well that the defense industry still employs a lot of people in CT so standing up for the military tends to mean standing up for jobs in CT, working class jobs. To have a guy with Joe's seniority means something to CT.

A statement of the kind that Rhode Island made would be more costly to CT. Joe had more influence with the Republican Party than Lincoln Chafee did, and he has seniority in the Democratic Party. I guess lots of people thought he was a pretty safe bet.

11. dunno
I don't know if he is the kind of guy who wants to work his way up the ladder from the House. We'll see. Would be great if he were. His name is so well known now that he would have an advantage on any ballot he appeared on. And of course the better the Democratic Congress does and the sooner it does something noticeable, the more currency Lamont's name will garner because what he stood for is the direction the Dems are taking us.
