GOP Spokesman Accuses Dems of Orchestrating 'Rampant Voter Fraud'

Responding to a report on voter intimidation and suppression by the National Voting Rights Institute/Demos, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee told the right-wing Cybercast News Service that it was “preposterous” and accused Democrats of orchestrating widespread voter fraud:

"Democrats and the left-wing groups with whom they coordinate wrote the guide on voter fraud," Petru told Cybercast News Service.

He accused Democrats of "shenanigans" with provisional ballots in 2004 and "rampant voter fraud."

1. Yeah. Those people who had to wait in line 11 hours to vote in Ohio
had plenty of time to think up "shenanigans"!

Republicans Blame Election Losses On Democrats

November 7, 2006 | Issue 42•45

WASHINGTON, DC—Republican officials are blaming tonight's GOP losses on Democrats, who they claim have engaged in a wide variety of "aggressive, premeditated, anti-Republican campaigns" over the past six-to-18 months. "We have evidence of a well-organized, well-funded series of operations designed specifically to undermine our message, depict our past performance in a negative light, and drive Republicans out of office," said Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman, who accused an organization called the Democratic National Committee of spearheading the nationwide effort. "There are reports of television spots, print ads, even volunteers going door-to-door encouraging citizens to vote against us." Acknowledging that the "damage has already been done," Mehlman is seeking a promise from Democrats to never again engage in similar practices.

11. There's a term for it -- it's called "Freudian Projection"...
-- "A defense mechanism in which the individual attributes to other people impulses and traits that he himself has but cannot accept. It is especially likely to occur when the person lacks insight into his own impulses and traits."

-- "The externalisation of internal unconscious wishes, desires or emotions on to other people. So, for example, someone who feels subconsciously that they have a powerful latent homosexual drive may not acknowledge this consciously, but it may show in their readiness to suspect others of being homosexual."

-- "Attributing one's own undesirable traits to other people or agencies, e.g., an aggressive man accuses other people of being hostile."

-- "The individual perceives in others the motive he denies having himself. Thus the cheat is sure that everyone else is dishonest. The would-be adulterer accuses his wife of infidelity."

-- "People attribute their own undesirable traits onto others. An individual who unconsciously recognises his or her aggressive tendencies may then see other people acting in an excessively aggressive way."

-- "Projection is the opposite defence mechanism to identification. We project our own unpleasant feelings onto someone else and blame them for having thoughts that we really have."

14. I don't particularly give a damn if they're optically scanned, as long as
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 02:51 AM by TahitiNut
... there's a required audit (manual count) of a sample that ensures no MATERIAL errors with 98% confidence. The audit sample would have to be determined by the margin of the vote. If there's a material error, there must not only be a 100% manual recount but a mandate to investigate and prosecute wrong-doing. The paper ballots should then be retained for 12 years in secure storage and subject to subpoena.

Oh ... and all scanner/tally software MUST be Open Source. No exceptions.
