they are desperate to court minorities aren't they?

I see they are still not getting it :)

Michael Steele for Republican National Chairman?
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2006/11/steele_for_rnc.html

Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R), who came up just short yesterday in his Senate race against Rep. Ben Cardin (D), is mulling a bid for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, according to an informed GOP source.

Steele would not challenge current RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman, but chatter among Republican insiders is that Mehlman has made clear for months that he might not return to his current post.

"Chairman Mehlman will be making an announcement regarding his future at the RNC in the coming weeks," said RNC communication director Brian Jones.

Mehlman has made outreach to the African American community a priority during his time as head of the party, and Steele would be seen as a logical successor to that effort.

1. reaching out to African Americans by running that ad against Harold Ford ?
Republicans will never get it. it's about issues. it's always good when minorities make inroads such as Obama. but Obama wasn't just some guy that people voted for because it would be agood thing to have a minority in the Senate. it was more about issues.

the same with Harold Ford who proved in his race that he dominated on issues also. if not for racism he would have won.

6. If Mehlman resigns then Blackwell will challenge Steele.
Then you will have two out of work politicians vie for the position.

3. They'd love him because he is one very crooked man.
Not only did he lie throughout his campaign....

He manufactured bumper stickers that read "STEEL DEMOCRAT."

Now during a debate, he argued that it was really just a play on "REAGAN DEMOCRAT..." :eyes:

When we all know he was trying to trick African Americans into voting for him.

He would bring lots of trickery and shame to the chair of the Republican Party.

He's perfectly qualified.
