Top 10 things I want the new congress to pass or work on.
These are the things I want the new Congress to pass or work on. This is the approximate order.

1. Pass the full slate of 9/11 commission recommendations.

2. Right to Keep and Bear Arms resolution which would symbolically show the support of the House for the second amendment. Of course it should be the item second symbolically.

3. Increase the minimum wage to 7.25. Increases should be scheduled for votes for the following 3 years as well. This is a neglected issue so it should be given the proper treatment.

4. Repeal all of the judicial handcuffs the pukes put on the courts. Let the courts do their jobs.

5. Adjust the AMT. It's killing working people.

6. Fund anti-crime programs. Bring back the cops program.

7. Begin a review and overhaul of the tax code. This should include multiple public forums in every congressional district. Get the people involved and let's fix the tax system. Aim to have a new tax code ready for vote by 9/08.

8. Overhaul the management of our borders. Get rid of the fence idea. Properly fund and support border control. An ambitious Congress can try to de-incentivize border jumpers.

9. Fully fund veteran's administration. Our veterans have given us so much. There should unlimited free health care for veterans. Do whatever it takes to repay our veterans.

10. Increase funding for NASA. This is a fun one that we all benefit from. This is a deep investment in science and education that I think has always paid off.

Other items of high importance is Energy Independence R&D and Healthcare.

1. Great list. I would also put in there a good thrust into what Cheney
was doing with the energy task force, since it must have interdepencies with our decisions in Iraq, as well as with the obvious manipulations of gas prices.

5. I would like to move Healthcare way up the list at least top
five..This is killing middle class families and small-midsize business..The HMOs and Drug companies are ripping us off..I have 4 children-7 grands and the cost per month is incredible plus the copays are limiting their ability to seek quality care...They are all professionals and make reasonable wages but it is of upper most concern. Our own medicare premium is a huge chunk of our SS. No crying towel here..but it should be a priority for this very wealthy industrialized nation.

6. I agree - sometimes it's literally "killing" the middle class.
Try to get expensive, life-saving surgery without insurance or if you're underinsured. The general assumption is that this is America and anyone who is seriously ill will get medical care. Don't believe it. People are dying.

9. I think we need to nip away at health care
Convince people there needs to be a change and what change to make. Then do it. For now we need to make sure the gov't can negotiate drug prices and people can import from Canada.

7. An alternative energy Apollo program
Clean energy, using technologies made in the USA, replaces imported oil in 10 years.

I know, I know...keep dreaming.

10. I agree
That's another super important thing that needs to happen. It's a national security interest.

8. Restore the FCC
which Ray-Gun almost succeeded in destroying, to its previous size and power. Restore limits on media ownership, and the Fairness Doctrine.

Revive the Small Business Administration and enforce set-asides of government contracts for small businesses. At this time many of the so-called set-aside contracts are handed to huge corporations.

And get rid of the self-employment tax so that people who can't get jobs as corporate drones can earn their own livings.
