Do We Have A Big Supreme Court Nomination Fight In The Near Future?
Lots of rumors about Stevens resigning shorty. Will Bush nominate a lightening rod uber conservative or will he go with a moderate? In a way, I'd love to see him nominate a wingnut judge just to see such a nomination go down in flames.

When I heard the rumors about Stevens a couple of weeks ago, I felt ill. Now I feel like he can deservedly retire if his health so dictates, and the SC will be relatively safe. What a relief.

1. If Stevens retires soon...
I suspect Bush will nominate a moderate.

If Stevens retires in 2008, Bush will nominate another Alito-type ultra conservative unitary executive type so he can rile up the base for the eventual Republic nominee.
