Newly elected Members of Congress looking for a place to live in Washington, D.C., may want to check out the 100 block of D Street Southeast. It’s a buyer’s market, and apparently a lot of fun.

Four Republicans who lost their races Tuesday — GOP Reps. Clay Shaw (Fla.), Chris Chocola (Ind.), Jim Ryun (Kan.) and Nancy Johnson (Conn.) — live on that block, along with disgraced ex-Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.).

In fact, they all held a “D Street Block Party” fundraiser together two years in a row, with Ryun joining in the fun for the last year. Chocola mixed up margaritas at his place, Shaw’s house featured bourbon, Johnson served martinis, Foley served wine and Ryun offered coffee and desert.

We expect their houses will be up for sale soon enough. Their neighbor Porter Goss, the former House Member and ex-CIA director, already is selling his two-bedroom house at 123 D St. SE, for $985,000.
