"the democrat party" - will repubs get away with renaming us? I think...
they will, eventually, unless there is some kind of defensive effort. what kind of defensive effort should we employ?

remember the great word, liberal? the repubs destroyed the value of that word, even though the most "liberal" man around, the Jesus guy, is the poster boy for the word. Now "liberal" is widely derided and used as a perjurative.

so here we have the president, other repubs, and media bloviators calling us the the Democrat party. If this phrase is used often enough, it will become commonly accepted and used, and "democratic party" as we use it to day will cease. Of course this is the repub/fascist method, say something over and over until it becomes accepted, especially in absence of opposition.

Is there going to be a concerted effort to prevent this labeling us 'the democrat party'? Or do we care?

2. Getting Bush to say "Democratic" would show Pelosi has him on a leash
I think the R's will fight mightily to keep the Democrat Party nonsense.

4. We're Democrats. There's no concerted anything.
:D

That being said, I challenge it whenever I hear it IRL, usually with favorable results. Some don't even realize it's a GOP label (which is your point, I know.) They're happy to refer to us as the Democratic party, at least when I'm around.

5. No idea. I constantly tell people I'm a liberal. And I correct the usage of 'Democrat' - however,
I also correct some friends that get upset whenever they see it, because it is correct usage in some situations.

7. They were saying that this morning on the BBC World News ...
listening to it on NPR and the British official speaking about the election results kept talking about bush working with the Democrat party.

8. I've been seeing Democrat Party used by the MSM.
I can't decide if it's malice or ignorance on their part, but it irritates the bejesus out of me.

9. I hear Democrats saying this.
We had a phone banker saying this all weekend. He was otherwise awesome on the phone and I didn't feel that it hurt us.

10. And I repeat ...
This is such a ridiculous issue ....

It cracks me up when DUers harrumph so completely about those two little letters ....

Really : WHO the fuck cares about those letters ? .... I have been a Democrat all my life, and I have never found this issue to matter one iota ....

Much ado about nothing .... Lets talk about minimum wage/bankruptcy bill/social security/war and peace/college funding/public schooling/alternative energy/mass transit ....

ANYTHING but those stupid little letters ....

12. I think we have lost the battle and we are now the Democrat
party. I think we should just be consistent and always say the Repub party.
