You need to be in touch with reality to make it better: Part II, Progressive Edition. |
|
Democrats won the elections. Progressives didn't. Don't assume otherwise.
Anti-war is not progressive, though many progressives are anti-war, conservative people like Senator elect Jim Webb are also anti-war. (Which does make him THE COOLEST conservative in America.)
We have to be in touch with reality in order to make it better. If we don't know or won't admit what reality is, we cannot go about changing it for the better; we won't know what we have to change.
We have to change the minds of Americans when it comes to full legal protection/rights for everyone in America. This is a campaign, but it will not start or end with elections. It starts with logic and compassion and empathy.
It won't be easy, but slowly it will happen. And when we start the ball rolling, it will continue to pick up speed. It will go everywhere in America, and everyone will believe it is righteous to devote ones-self to innate equality.
We need to have one foot firmly planted in reality, and one foot firmly planted in hope. That's the only way we'll put a majority of progressives in Congress.
