Why I LOVE DU!!!

We get bombarded daily with rightwing attacks, lies, memes, strawmen, false dichotomies, twisted half-truths. It's great to discuss those, and get PAST those, on DU.

There are broad, basic disagreements in this country about, for example, the role of government, individual rights to privacy, equality under the law, etc... It's refreshing to have a community like DU where we agree on the basic broad "values," and can have deeper discussions about how they relate to specific issues.

It's wonderful to have so much to discuss, and a place to do it. There's plenty of disagreement, debate, and argument here. The rules are fair and well-enforced by the mods and admins. DUers have taught me, inspired me, given me new perspectives and food for thought. This forum is informative, motivating, and even comforting.

I'll second that, along with your whole post. I am often surrounded by talking-head Repubs in my line of work, and I am extremely grateful that I can come here for information, motivation and even comfort...and sanity to boot! I love DU! :toast:
