3. Of course he won't concede
He is a pompous ass.
He will just announce that he is running for President and will allow the Senate race to go uncontested--even though he is sure he won.

11. Thanks for the link...I just asked in another thread where we could find this
I swear I heard on CNN just before the Ed Bradley breaking news that the vote count difference was only 300 and something...

I was/am a "bit" concerned that this could get ugly and then...oppss...we missed the count on a hundred machines or some BS like that...

7. Lawyers, Guns and Money now converging on Richmond.
He's apparently within his rights to request "recount after recount." I was surprised to hear of a concession this early, before the thugs could arrive with bags of extra Allen votes.

I doubt that Cheney will give up his majority without a fight, though he will pretend not to be involved. I simply cannot imagine his remaining in a job that will now require him to concede regularly.

10. Jeez, they must be scared shitless. Probably gonna try to stuff the boxes with
military absentee ballots....of course, that might work against them, because a smart lawyer would depose servicemembers, who were more likely to vote for our lad Webb....

They must have a whiff of something wicked coming out of a Democratic Senate, so they're flopsweat desperate.

Either that or the margin of victory is small enough that the TAXPAYERS OF VIRGINIA get to pay for it, not Allen....

Why is it so surprising? I guess he isn't more than 0.5% behind Webb so the state will pay for the recount. We wouldn't want to see a Dem just concede if the Dem was close enough for a recount. In fact, at a time we hoped Webb would get close enough for a recount ;).
If Kerry had conceded without a recount while being behind by 0.3% in Ohio, many here would have lynched him ;).

13. But, there is literally no way he can win with a recount
He can't make up 8,000+ votes.

He's just being an ass.

Webb is winning by 8888 votes. The number is getting BIGGER as the provisionals, etc. are counted.
Whether he concedes or not Allen is TOAST!

Frankly, my greatest hope for this WHOLE election cycle was the demise of Allen. He is a blight upon humanity, and he and his bigoted, racist ilk should be purged from civilized society.

19. I see no confirmation on this.
To the contrary, Josh Marshall just now posted that WaaaAllen is receiving advice from friends and compatriots that nothing will be gained by a protracted recount, that he'll still lose. These guys are correct and Allen should be listening to them.

My experience tells me that 7,000 votes are just too many for any recount to overcome. The most Macaca could realistically gain would be a very few hundred votes.

The Republicans will look extraordinarily bad if Macaca does not concede.

There are still many congressional races in contention and each one should be considered on a case-by-case basis. But a CD race is much smaller and a recount can be mounted without undue stress to the system. I think, in general, recounts in these cases should probably be done when they are requested. If nothing else it might expose just how bad these voting machines are for democratic (small-d) principles. At best, it might flip a few more races to the Dems, with the danger that some may flip to the Repukes. However, I see nothing wrong with that. I think that the Dems have the momentum in this election and I think we'll gain some seats this way.

But a statewide Senate race is not likely to flip via a recount. The margin is just too large.
