Prediction: Cheney Resigns In The Next Few Months 'For Health Reasons'
The Reich is going to do a public purging of the neo-cons to improve their chances in '08.

I always thought Cheney would step down and they would appoint their anointed candidate for '08 (the Reich does not have a real primary process, after all) but I think the administration is now so radioactive, no viable candidate will touch the job.

5. I wouldn't think they'd attempt a replacement.
The VP's office has gone vacant before IIRC.

And having SanFrannie Values Pelosi next in line could cause even Bush to have a heart attack.

4. Unlikely
Poppy would have to take over, which would only happen if Junior totally decompensates and they try to conceal his inability to function at all. In a way, that would be the death blow for the BFEE, which is sure to survive even the demise of the GOP. So maybe I should hope that those chickens come home and start pecking away.

6. Poppy's already taken over ...
... when JAB III came in to head the 'Iraq Bail Out Options' group or WTFever they called it.
Now Gates?

Oh yeah, Poppy's reviving his Cabinet to clean up Jr's doo-doo.
He must be getting really sick of having to clean up after his idiot son ...

9. He'll only resign (for health reasons) when the 2008 'Prince' is annointed
The likely scenario, as I view it, is to use Cheney as a political ablative (take the heat and go away) until the Reich identifies a presumptive inheritor of Dubya Doody's strings. That person will be the replacement for Cheney. Then, in mid-2008, Dubya Doody will be 'martyred' and the designee will be both the GOP nominee and the beneficiary of the sympathy vote. The GOP wants its own JFK. Dubya Doody is a loose cannon who cannot be permitted to run around loose as an ex-pResident. Without the trappings and resources of the pResidency, his pathological narcissism is a petard under the ass of the GOP. He becomes an asset instead of a liability if 'martyred.'

It's a frightening scenario ... but I've yet to see anything that makes it less probable.

with a bullet, so to speak.

And what makes this dark vision really depressing is that I would not put it past the powers behind the organized crime syndicate that is the GOP to 'retire, with extreme prejudice' a sitting President of their own party for political gain.

On edit: They started a war for purely political gain, after all.

14. I typically abhor Crystal-Ball-gazing.

'Arguments' about some future event(s) are typically fruitless, almost always logic-free and absent the foundation of facts from which conclusions may be logically drawn.

There are some exceptions, however. I foresaw the war in the Middle East and a preciptating 'event' like 9/11 in September 2000. (I even posted my prediction on Usenet.) It came true including my prediction of Afghanistan, Iraq, or Iran.

Some things just seem obvious. This is one of them.

12. Well, Aren't We a Bunch of Depressives!
The sun is shining, it's 60F and we took back the House and Senate, and with any luck will have 52 Senators in a few weeks given the state of health of Wyoming's recently reelected Senator. I refuse to even think about Dick Cheney until Monday.
