Poll question: Which DEMOCRATIC Senator is now less likely to run for President
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 01:42 PM by Perky
Power is a terrific aphrodisiac. Given that the Dems now control the Senate and committee chairs are now in the offing. Given the risks of running for pres vs. standing for re-election in some cases. Given that your main reason for running was to rage against the War or the NeoCon agenda and now given that the senate majority now gives you a chance to do that rather than having a 1 in ten shot at winning the WHite House. Given that Senators virtually never win the presidency. Which Senator do you see as most likely NOT to run in 2008?

In no particular order

Sheesh I know Santorum is not going to run duh.. lol
I wish I had left Kerry off the list because he is such a gimme.

he was watching what happened to Ford in TN. Ford lost. My bet is Obama doesn't run. He now knows RACE will be a factor.

8. I actually think he would be more inclined to run
Because Ford has such a good showing but more importantly because he seems to transcend race and ideology.

I think Hlllary won't run.

I awill get blasted for this But I do not thin Feingold is going to run now.

11. Obama said he was watching the Ford race to see what happened. PLUS,
he and his wife are VERY afraid of assassination by KKK types....as they should be. Racism is alive and well in this country, unfortunately. He saw the nasty, racist ads that Corker ran. Who would want to put his family throught that crap? I don't think he'll run.

9. I have no fucking idea.
There is SOOOOOOOOO much that will come out between now and then, you won't even recognize the climate by the primaries. Why guess?

12. Hopefully, NONE of them will run
Senators can't get elected (yes I know Ohio was stolen, but that's beside the point) so why waste time nominating them, or waste their own time campaigning?

Now that we control the Legislative branch, let's do something with it. And let Gore & Edwards worry about 2008. Preferrably together, on the same ticket, in that order.

15. Obama is more likey due to the election to run, imo
he is called a "rock star" and gets crowds excited like nobody except Bill Clinton. He campaigned for many democrats in this cycle. African American candidates ran respectable if losing races in MD and TN--if Steele had been a democrat he would have won that race. And an African-American was elected Governor of MA.

so heavily for Kerry that people got his message about the need for a New Deal for the country at large.

Rampant, conscienceless corporatism has indeed been a weapon of mass destruction within the US and around the globe, and for Americans not to have realised it, would be tragic beyond words, since in some ways you and we in the UK have, like the third world, been at the sharp end of it. But you have the nouse to know it and the spirit to do something about it.

WWII quietened the traitors in our midst for a few decades, but since the Reagan-Thatcher axis, they've been on the march. Like *'s peace.
