Were we just too much for them this time? |
|
Now that the post-election dust is settling, about the only thing that could surpass my surprise of taking back BOTH houses of Congress is the fact that there seems to be very little fighting back by the GOP to get at least the Senate back through recount challenges and/or other shennanigans. After all the nasty campaigning this election, the Neocons are merely going out with a whimper! Now, believe me, I'm NOT complaininng, but compared with what we saw in 2000, it just seems ... odd, doesn't it?

2. I think the whole party is in total disarray. |
|
Think about it -- the parade of scandals has touched almost all of them! I think many of them are happy just not to be in jail, at this point. They've gone scuttling into their little bunkers to try and recoup. They'll be back, though, and we have to be ready for them.

3. I think they were overwhelmed by the turnout. |
|
They tried all of their voter suppression dirty tricks and machine glitches and still got their collective asses kicked. They know a recount and investigation would only show a larger Democratic victory.

4. I wonder if they did rig Va. and Mt. -- but just not enough to seal the deal. |
|
The exit polls in the other races proved very accurate. The ones in Va. and Mt. showed the Democratic candidates with a bigger lead than the results. Things that make you go: Hmmmmm.

5. Play Rope-A-Dope with the Repuke recounters. |
|
There are going to be several recounts in CDs where things were close. Dems should all support their opponents who are asking for recounts, even when it seems like sour grapes. Dems have to go on record for honest elections with a paper trail. If the opponent wants to spend money on a recount, the Democrat should be saying, "We all want the winner to win. I support my opponent's effort in ensuring fair elections and that every vote is counted. I have volunteers ready to help in this effort." Blah, blah, blah.
The Democrat must get the Repuke to acknowledge that the system is currently broken, that these machines are rubbish, that the only path to honest elections is a method of voting that preserves an audit trail, and that voting is a right of every citizen which must be preserved.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2653696&mesg_id=2660580I'm still a bit sleep deprived from my massive GOTV efforts on E-Day and so, maybe I'm just being paranoid. But, your "it just seems ... odd, doesn't it?" comment strikes a nerve.
