The idea that Cheney could be impeached (or resign some time in the future) is no longer far-fetched. We now have the power to investigate him and I'm sure the bastard has plenty to hide.
My question is, if Cheney goes, do we have the power to vote against the Chimp's new vice presidential nominee if we find him (or her) to be unfit for the office?

1. Sure, why not....Cheney should be taken out as quickly as possible |
|
...or Bush will take the country into yet another war in Iran or Korea or elsewhere. The Cheney/Bush combination is very dangerous

2. Wait until after the Libby trial |
|
No, advocating the impeachment of Dick Cheney is a terrible idea at the present time.
Wait until after the Scooter Libby trial (now scheduled to begin on January 17, 2007 in DC). During the trial or shortly thereafter, Mr. Cheney is likely to resign because of information to be brought out during the trial.

3. We won't have the power to subpoena squat |

until January. There isn't any reason in the world that we can't start holding hearings and doing investigation starting then. Your hope is that he will resign. It may even be a safe bet (I think Bush 41 would throw Cheney under the bus in a heartbeat). But, we should still have the hearings and launch the investigation. I think the House Dems can walk and chew gum at the same time.
