A couple of after election comments from a military post
Today while out, going about my day, people(soldiers and civilians alike) were -

Hopeful for something better to come from it

"Maybe now things will improve"

A few were grumbling - but even they said

"I'll wait and see"

Some were concerned

"What does this mean for us?"

Many were OK with Rumsfeld going.

"Rummy cuts and runs" - jokingly said

"We needed new leadership"

Some felt cheated and lied to by his going.

"He gets to resign and we have to stay and die"

"He lied. He said he stood with us and now he's just leaving"

Fortunately my day didn't bring me into contact with any hardcore right wingers, so I'm sure I haven't heard the whole story yet. I do try and avoid all right wingers when at all possible. Once you know who they are, it's not hard to do.

Also, the Army Times with the editorial calling for Rumsfeld to resign as yet to reach this post. We still have the October 16th issue on the stands. Quite a few were "surprised" by the resignation.
