Post election homophobic hypocrisy. |
|
An acquaintance I've occasionally had to work with is a die-hard Republican homophobe. He uses phrases like "Faggots always turn ot to be Democrats." I've called him on it more than once and told him he's entitled to his opinion, but to stop using the term "faggot." (He still thinks that the whole Foley thing was a Dem plot.)
Well, our new governor here in Florida, Charlie Crist, is gay. He's never come out of the closet, but it's no big secret down here, anymore than was Foley.
I ran into my acquaintance this morning and asked him how he felt about having a gay governor. His response was "I voted for him and all that talk about him being a fag is Democrat propaganda." (He still insists that Limbaugh was "framed" on the oxycontin episode.)
When you're dealing with an extreme Kool-aid drinker like this, all you can do is sigh, shake your head and walk away. Although I was tempted to rub his face into our Tuesday sweep, I just let it go.

2. Reason is not automatic. Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it. |

Do not count on them. Leave them alone.
There are many instances of this in all walks of life across all political spectrums. When someone has something in their mind, they will refuse any contradictory information and rationalize it internally.
It is a waste of time to try and convince them and all it does it frustrate me.

4. I'm not trying to zing anyone |

I have yet to meet a hardcore homophobe that is such for any reason other than self disgust and looking for a way out of their own dilemma of dealing with living 'in the closet'.

5. So, history proves him wrong and he keeps on a voting for it.... |
|
If the Christian values can't seem wrong than he keeps on a voting for it. In endless war the corporations win and he just keeps on a voting for it. It doesn't matter because God says so and he just keeps on a voting for it. Suspicious family down the street is removed and he just keeps on a voting for it. When legislation passed that Gays are screwed, he just keeps on a voting for it. When the radio stations are all jammed up with Right Wing talk, well, we are all screwed!
Stay alert! Stay vigilant!

6. You're absolutely right, icymist. |

Although we won this time, the miserable bastards who stole our government, and ran it into the ground for the past six years, haven't gone away. They never will. I forgot who said, "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance." That's a truth we can never lose sight of.
