There is one thing George Allen ought to be given great credit for: |
|
The exemption of taxes for internet commerce is one of the most empowering things in American history. Taxes are charged in local areas if a business has a physical presence there, even if it is over the internet, but in large part most people who do work on the internet do not have to pay taxes for it.
George Allen is partly responsible for this, and I hope we as Democrats continue it, because it has helped a lot of wonderful businesses we use today to get started.
Actually I think we ought to look into exempting completely most new small businesses from taxes, to promote innovation and in general good ideas.
(I should note that Democratic Senator Ron Wyden and Republican Rep. Chris Cox were co-sponsors of the bill.)

Hopefully, our new Democratic Congress will help it along.

2. I believe the law he was referring to is in regards to a federal tax on Internet Access. |
|
As for sales tax, by Virginia law, Virginians are still required to report unpaid use tax on their Virginia Tax Returns, this includes goods purchased over the Internet, of course taxpayers rarely report such use tax.

5. Well obviously that, but I think this particular type of tax elimination... |
|
is very important to progress, because people who invent things will be able to start up businesses. The more new businesses with new technology that start in America, the more jobs America has.
