The media is trying sell our Dem win as a win for "conservative values?"
All morning long, that was the spin on CNN and MSNBC.

:wtf: Will they EVER pull their heads out of their asses? Ever?

Besides, I thought last week they were telling me that a Dem win meant "San Fransico values"--not "conservative values" (by the way, it seems to me conservative values now mean snorting meth and calling up hookers for sex anyway as far as I'm concerned).

1. And why would anyone want
or be proud of having conservative values anyway? They are perverts and well just creepy and not at all mainstream.

2. the meme was set up 6 months ago, and the script writers haven't
woken up yet.
They will keep to it until the new congress is in office, and then look for a new talking point.

3. They lied about values voters in 2004, now they want to cover up ANTI-CORRUPTION MANDATE
that the people gave the Democratic party.

Centrist Democrats who don't want the books opened on BushInc are helping the corporate media's talking heads.

5. I know. It's absurd. It started on election night
Voters were outraged at Republicans so they voted for "Conservative Democrats" A phrase I never really heard until Tuesday. Republicans weren't conservative enough so Dems won? It's insane.

12. Apparently conservatives don't have any values worth voting back in
according to the voters.

The voters were voting against CORRUPTION (according to exit polling) and they threw the conservatives out of office.

That's what they thought of their "values."

6. It's a win for common sense
And common sense favors us, not wingnut lunatics. The real message here is, can the GOP save itself by returning to being a sane, inclusive party or are they going to continue to follow Karl Rove's theory of appealing to the rabid nutcases.

Even a third of evangelicals have had enough of this shit.

7. They had better reassess those views quickly
Because if they don't (America just voted against those views), they'll start losing viewers as fast as Limbaugh and Faux.

All the Democrats won, Liberal and Moderate.

8. Can't have it both ways.
Repugs are saying they lost because they weren't conservative enough. Media saying Dems were diving toward the right. Doesn't make sense.

9. It IS a return to conservative values
Conservation of freedom.

Conservation of Liberty

Conservation of Peace

Conservation of Fiscal Responsibility

Conservation of Ethics

Conservation of Moral standing in the world.

It is a rebuke of rabid, retarded, radical, right wing, retrograde, republican, rhetoric.

21. There you go!
The Democratic party and it's liberal allies ARE the conservatives.

We are the ones trying to conserve traditional values.

It is the republicans that are out of touch with mainstream, traditional, American values!

WE ARE AMERICA!

13. Yes, I've been noticing this too. With Dems in control of
Congress, why are they not showing up on these programs? I want someone out from a meaningful position in Congress, and not Carville and Begalla and Brazile or that Hillary whastherface, laying down some Dem positions and clarifying that the media nor * defines Dem values.

A win for us was really a win for them? Arggghhh.

And the corporate media gladly parrots this talking point.

16. WOW, I this morning on the way to work, I was telling my
husband that I thought this was a victory not only for democrats, but for progressive/liberal values - In my area, the following measures failed -

Estate tax repeal (voted no)
property rights (really a giveaway to developers, voted down)
hard religious right judge (lost)
millionaire insurance man who wanted to privatize ss (see ya mike)
restrictions on strip clubs (voted down)

In states close by me --

parental notice (oregon, voted down)
abortion ban (South Dakota, voted down)

Democratic majority established in our state congress.

All sounds pretty good and progressive to me.

18. EXACTLY!!!
That's exactly what I'm talking about.

The voters have decided that the conservatives were FULL OF IT and by and large rejected their 'so-called' values.

23. My LTTE on this (so far)
I was inspired by this thread to write one... and I threw this together so far.
>>>
For weeks, the media was telling us that if Democrats win control of Congress, it will be a victory for the terrorists and the Cut and Run crowd. It would also bring San Francisco values to the rest of America, and we could have true liberals in charge of the House Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees. Well, guess what? The Democrats won Congress and now the media is telling us that it was a victory for conservatism because five of the over thirty new Democrats in Congress are against abortion and ran as moderates. Yet, each moderate Democrat ran against a far more conservative Republican, and the most conservative Democrat that ran for Senate, Harold Ford, lost his race. Meanwhile, the biggest Republican win on election night was Arnold Schwarzenegger, who ran as a public school loving liberal promising to fight global warming. We now have a House Speaker from San Francisco, and liberals will be running Ways and Means and Judiciary. Perhaps somebody in the media can explain to me again how conservatives won on Election night?

(I also think the reason they campaigned against Rangel & Conyers as Committe chairs was because they are black, and not just liberal... but, figured that was too much for a mainstream publication)
